The Woodlands

This master-planned community about 30 miles north of downtown Houston began in the 1970s as the vision of Texas billionaire George P. Mitchell, a well-known businessman and real estate developer. He dreamt of a great environment to live in, where families and businesses thrived alongside the wonders of nature here in the lush Piney Woods of East Texas.

Today, Mitchell’s dream has been turned into a reality, as the area he once envisioned is now the aptly named The Woodlands and is one of the country’s most successful master-planned communities. The development as a whole is now home to more than 100,000 people and approximately 2,000 businesses.

Residents and community leaders at The Woodlands have made it a point to keep a clean and green environment. In the area you will find several of the best shopping, dining, and entertainment establishments in Greater Houston, alongside excellent schools, championship golf courses, miles of hiking trails, and a wealth of scenic parks. This is truly a fantastic place to live.
