27 miles to the north of Houston,you’ll find the unincorporated community of Porter in Montgomery County. Located at the intersection of Interstate 69 and Farm to Market Road 1314, Porter is roughly bounded by Kingwood to the south, Spring and Porter Heights to the west, New Caney to the north, and Lake Houston Wilderness Park to the east. Porter was originally established in the late 1800s and was actually the county seat of Montgomery County from 1896 to 1915.
